Brandon Carter is an assignment editor leading the Post’s Instagram team. The team's work on the @washingtonpost Instagram received a 2024 Webby Award in the Social, News & Politics category. Previously, he was a producer on NPR’s Politics team, where he led audience engagement and social media efforts for nearly five years. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University, where he served as editor in chief of the campus newspaper, the College Heights Herald. He hails from the small town of Fulton, Ky., which was once known as the “Banana Capital of the World.”
